READING IN TAGALOG : Mahal Kita, Inay
This weekend, our Salita! students got crafty for mother's day!
Lampara books offers a great selection of children's books written in both Tagalog and English. One of their talented authors, who goes by Kuya Jun, has recorded a collection of Reading Rainbow like videos for kids and their parents to enjoy together. Check out their channel here
This week, we read the story "Mahal Kita, Inay" to celebrate the important women in our lives. The illustrations are eye-catching and I find that the students enjoy reading in Tagalog, even if they aren't familiar with the words just yet!
Lampara's website offers the opportunity to read this book for free and it's a great way to get young readers to get familiar with Tagalog pronunciation. Heaven knows we get a little tongue tied switching from one langauge to another!
Students got the opportunity to create their own stories, thanking Mom for all she's done and practicing our verbs and vocabulary list!
